Pilat, born in communist Poland, is an award-winning painter in San Francisco, whose paintings can be found in collections around the world. Her most current project, disrupt, consists of “heroic portraits of antiquated technology,” in which she “treat[s] every machine as an individual.” She considers her work to be a tribute to not only technology but also to everything that is good about America.
